Communities Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has announced funding, of almost £110,000, for Mullaghmore & Castleview Community Association (MACCA) Community Resource Centre.

The investment will support refurbishment works to MACCA Community Resource Centre, which was built in 2002, along with the provision of new furniture and equipment.

The Neighbourhood Renewal funding will enable the continuation of the delivery of much needed services within the centre, particularly to support the delivery of essential educational and health programmes in the Mullaghmore and Castleview areas of Omagh.  The work will visually enhance the MACCA Community Resource Centre and the surrounding area, thereby encouraging Neighbourhood Renewal participation from all age groups.

In announcing the funding, Minister Ní Chuilín said: “This Neighbourhood Renewal funding will help to reinvigorate a much-needed community infrastructure in this Neighbourhood Renewal Area. MACCA Resource Centre is an integral part of the community and as such this refurbishment will provide a more fit for purpose centre that will support the delivery of much-needed services to meet the needs of the local residents in a safe and inclusive environment and promote better use of the facility by a range of delivery agents.”

The Department for Communities is currently working with MACCA to appoint a lead consultant to deliver the full programme of works.  It is anticipated the project will take three months to complete once a contractor is on site.
