Remains found in vehicle confirmed as 1991 missing man James Patterson

The PSNI have today confirmed that following the recovery of a car from the River Bann at New Ferry Road, human remains had been found inside the vehicle.

The discovery in July was in relation to the disappearance of James Patterson who went missing on 6th October 1991.

Following examination of the remains, police are now in a position to confirm these are the remains of Mr Patterson.

The family have been informed and request for privacy at this time.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
