County Down Golfer Rory McIlroy has announced the birth of his baby daughter, who has been named Poppy.
In a post on Twitter, accompanied with a picture of the newborn holding her golfer dads finger, Rory wrote:
“Poppy Kennedy McIlroy, born August 31st, 12:15pm. She is the absolute love of our lives. Mother and baby are doing great. Massive thank you to all the staff at Jupiter Medical Center and Dr Sasha Melendy for their amazing care.”
The news of the pregnancy of wife Erica had been kept out of the media until news broke officially last week.
Rory grew up in Holywood Co-Down where he developed his skills, eventually making it to world No1, a position he regained again in February this year, the first time since 2015.
Rorys current world golf ranking is No4.
