TV Dr threatened with legal action after 'highly defamatory allegation' against MLA

TV Doctor and presenter Dr Christian Jessen has been threatened with legal action after he retweeted and made a comment on twitter about an unsubstantiated claims against former first minister and current MLA, Mrs Arlene Foster.

After posting his comment in a Tweet, well known media lawyer Paul Tweed – thought to be acting on Mrs Fosters behalf – posted the following in a reply to Dr Jessen Twitter post

“I am putting Dr Christian Jessen on notice in relation to a totally false allegation he has tweeted regarding DUP leader and former NI First Minister, Arlene Foster,” Mr Tweed wrote.

“Legal action will also be taken against any persons who have retweeted this highly defamatory allegation.”

The BBC later received a further statement on the matter from Mr Tweed which read;

“I would confirm, if necessary, legal proceedings will be taken against Dr Christian Jessen, Twitter and any persons who have recklessly retweeted this false and highly defamatory allegation.”
