A viable device which was discovered in Londonderry last night has now been made safe.
In a night plagued with trouble in the city, residents of Creggan Heights area, were evacuated and asked late last night to make other arrangements while police dealt with the incident.
The incident has now ended this morning and police released the following statement.
“A viable device has been made safe in the Creggan Heights area. Families who were evacuated can now return to their homes.”
ACC Mark Hamilton said
“I am very grateful to the community for their patience and would ask for their further cooperation as the investigation continues”
