Ballyclare Secondary School opening delayed after positive COVID-19 case

Ballyclare Secondary School have delayed their opening by 72 hours following news that a pupil has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Writing to parents, the schools principle Mrs Bell said: “It has come to our attention this evening that a pupil who was in Ballyclare Secondary School on Thursday, August 20 has since tested positive for Covid-19.

“Our school is cleaned everyday and was cleaned on Friday afternoon. However, to comply with guidance our school will not reopen tomorrow to allow for the 72 hour incubation period from the last clean.”

“To protect the student’s confidentiality we cannot share the name. Track & Trace have been informed and and school are taking all appropriate mitigation measures.

In conclusion Mrs Bell wrote: “The school building will be a safe place to return to on Tuesday 25th August.”
