The family of Dunclug College Pupil Brooke Reid McMaster (12), held a vigil in her memory earlier today in Ballymena.

Hundreds from the local Ballymena community gathered to pay their respects to Brooke after she tragically lost her life as a result of a house fire at her home on Staffa Drive in the Ballykeel area of the town on Wednesday

Principle of Dunclug College, Ruth Wilson, spoke about Brooke saying: “Brooke played the piano, she sang in the choir, enjoyed her sport and showed such potential in all her studies – we can truly say that, in her short time as a pupil of our College, she made an impact in all the best ways. Her family are broken now, but I trust that lovely memories and underlying faith will become the oil of joy for mourning and that in time, we will all feel the richer for having known her.”

Brooke’s Mother Martha and Grandfather Billy gathered with family, friends and wider community for prayer and to let off balloons in her memory, while a piper played.
