McGuigan calls for additional COVID-19 testing centres

North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Philip McGuigan has written to the Health Minister asking for additional Covid testing centres to be set up.

Mr.McGuigan said:

“There have been occasions when people in Ballycastle and The Glens have been allocated a test centre in Scotland as their closest location when they use the online system.

“At the minute there are only three centres – Belfast, Derry and Craigavon – to cover the whole of the North. Given the rural nature of this constituency that means some of my constituents are travelling well over 100 miles there and back. I dont believe that is acceptable.

“Testing is key to containing and defeating this virus. More and more people are going to requireting over the coming months so I am urging the Minister to set up additional test centres. I would suggest there is the need to place one within the constituency of North Antrim.”
