Sinn Féin MLA, Philip McGuigan, has echoed calls from party colleagues across the North for the Education Minister to bring forward a clear and comprehensive plan for a safe return to school.

The North Antrim MLA said:

“It’s now the first week of August and only a short time period from a return to school.

“Over the last while I have been contacted by Head Teachers, teachers and parents from right across the North Antrim constituency and beyond about the lack of clear guidance and uncertainty about the return to school.

“Schools are doing their best to prepare but are trying to work off conflicting guidance and public statements from the Minister. Parents in particular are worried about how a return to school will look like and what procedures will be in place.

“The Education Minister must bring forward proposals as a matter of urgency. Parents and schools need clear guidance urgently on what a return to school will look like.”
