Northern Ireland boxer Carl Frampton has lost out to WBO World Super Featherweight champion Jamel Herring in Dubai this evening,

Being knocked to the mat for the second time, first, in round 5 and again early in round 6, Frampton failed to recover enough to last the remainder of the round, with his corner throwing in the towel at 1 minute 40 seconds.

After the match, Frampton was visibly emotional and said that he was: “deeply upset”.

Confirming his retirement, the Tiger Bay boxer dedicated the match to his former trainer Billy McKee who recently passes away – as well as thanking his wife, kids and family – saying he would now, “dedicate his life to his family”.
