Emergency services were called yesterday evening to a report of a car entering the water of Lough Foyle at approximately 10:30pm, close to Quigley’s Point in North East Donegal.

Garda, Fire services from L/Derry & Donegal and Ambulance were dispatched to the scene at Three Trees on the edge of Lough Foyle, followed by the HM Coastguard Helicopter Rescue 199 from Prestwick.
Unfortunately three occupants of the vehicle have died as a result of this incident, A male (49) who was driving, and two children, a girl (6) & a 14 years old boy.
One female (45) escaped the vehicle and raised the alarm. She was later transported to Letterkenny hospital.
Garda have said that after initial investigations that: “the vehicle skidded across the road and down the embankment and plunged into the water”.
