After 47 years, later tonight at 11pm, the UK will officially leave the EU and begin its twelve month transition period.
It’s been three years since former Prime Minister David Cameron called a referendum, resulting in 52% voting to exit the EU.
Three Prime Ministers later and a battle to agree a deal to leave by March 31st, the UK is just hours away from finally leaving the EU and it’s 28 members.
However for the next 12 months the UK will still abide by EU laws during this transition period, with Northern Ireland having several other extra conditions as part of the deal. This due in part to its unique situation with the Republic of Ireland, who still remain in the EU.
