Virgin media apologise after internet and TV suffers service outage

There was widespread reports that Virgin Media experienced a major outage, as customers were unable to connect to their internet or TV services.

The outage was reported around 5pm earlier this evening with many complaining on social media.

The issue was fixed a short time later for the majority of customers according to the company, with many customers services returning within the hour. Virgin media reports that the issue has now been fixed and they are currently investigating the cause of the problem.

Despite this, a small number of customers in the Belfast area continue to experiencing disturbances to their service.

Status at 7:40pm

A spokesperson for Virgin Media said: “We’re currently investigating an intermittent broadband issue that lasted for a very short period of time earlier this evening.

“While services are currently back up and running, our teams are looking into the problem and will work flat out to fix it. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

This problem comes just days after a major outage lasting over 24 hours affected rival service, SKY.
