Macosquin District LOL No. 8 is set to host the Twelfth celebrations in Coleraine, with a projected attendance of 50,000 individuals, according to the Orange Order.

Organizers are optimistic that holidaymakers from neighbouring Portrush and Portstewart will boost the crowd count, which will include Brethren, bands, and lodges.

The event’s vibrant colours, music, and pageantry will undoubtedly dazzle visitors from overseas. The City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, Coleraine District LOL No. 2, and Limavady District LOL No. 6 will be among the visiting districts.

Ten Brethren from Harthill District, Scotland, will also receive a special welcome. The main parade starts at Union Street at 12:00 PM and will follow a path through the town before ending on Wheatsheaf Road’s exhibition ground.

Proceedings on the platform will start at 2:00 PM, led by Wor. Bro. Rev. Alistair Smyth, Grand Chaplain, and including a Sermon from Wor. Bro. Rev. Keith McIntyre, Deputy County Grand Chaplain and Chaplain of Macosquin DLOL No. 8. Two new bannerettes will be displayed for the first time.

The Articlave Flute Band has an extra reason to celebrate this year as it marks its 150th anniversary. A ceremony for new uniforms was held on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at St. Paul’s Parish Church in Articlave. The return procession will begin at 3:30 PM.
