Norma Smyth, a 48-year-old woman from Limavady, has been given a three-year sentence for her theft and fraud crimes against her employer, Edwin May Ltd.

Over the span of a decade, Smyth stole more than £3,000 per month, accumulating a total of £452,787.

She admitted to abusing her position of trust within the car dealership by accessing company accounts and diverting funds towards personal invoices and car finance repayments, amounting to £14,962.

Smyth, residing on Duncrun Road in Limavady, County Londonderry, was ordered to serve half of her sentence in jail and the other half under supervised licence conditions. In addition to the three-year sentence, she must undergo confiscation proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The court has adjourned the confiscation proceedings until September.
