Coleraine Magistrates’ Court has heard charges against a woman of fraud by false representation concerning the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT).

The defendant was due to appear in front of District Judge Peter King at the Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ballymena on November 13 – but did not appear.

Judge King was however satisfied that he could convict the defendant on the papers.

Heather McCook (51) of Mill Square Ballybogey Ballymoney, claimed to be unfit to work and received sick pay from the NHSCT to the total of £3,463.18, committing the offence between October 5 – December 31 2018, whilst at the same time working bank shifts elsewhere which totalled £3,773.77.

The defendant was ordered to pay a compensation order of £3,463.18 to the NHSCT and given a conditional discharge of 24 months.
