Body of a male recoved from River Bann

24 August 2020....A full search of the Six Mile Water at the Antrim Forumn has taken place all day to try to recover the body of a male who entered the water late last night. Police Helicopter and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 from Prestwick searched overnight with Lifeboats Community Rescue Service, HM Coastguard Teams and Skywatch NI. The body of a man was recovered from a section of the River Bann in Coleraine earlier this afternoon. (Tuesday 21).

Following a 999 call this afternoon after 3 pm, police attended a section of the river alongside colleagues from the community rescue service (CRS).

Unfortunately, during the brief operation by the CRS, the body of a deceased male was recovered.

MLA Maurice Bradley said: “My thoughts are with the family and family members affected by this tragedy.

“There is no further update at the minute. But none the less, it’s another blow in our community. Sincere thanks to the volunteers of Community Search and Rescue, the Ambulance Service and PSNI who were on call to deal with this tragedy.”

A spokesperson for the Community Rescue Service said “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this most difficult of times.”
