Popular Portrush restaurant, The Tides, have announced they will close as a precaution this evening (Friday) for a deep clean, after a recent customer tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement online, the restaurant have said:
“The Tides Portrush, regret to inform you that one of our customers has tested positive for Covid-19. The customer dined with us a week ago and have informed us of their results this afternoon.
“According to government guidelines we do not have to close our premises when the person has not been in less than 1 metre contact for more than 15 minutes.
“However, we value the safety of our staff and customers and have decided to close this evening and reopen tomorrow after a deep clean as it’s an isolated customer case.
“To date we have been following all government guidelines with table distancing, sanitiser stations and hourly deep cleans.
“Even before Covid we pride ourselves on our 5 Star hygiene rating and having an open bar and kitchen that are kept to the highest standards. We are absolutely devastated that this has happened but unfortunately it is a situation that a lot of us will face in the coming months.”
In conclusion: “Thank you to all the customers for your understanding and apologies for any inconveniences. Please note this does not affect The Newbridge Coleraine or Urban Portrush as it is an isolated customer case.”
