DUP North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey has welcomed the commencement of resurfacing works on the  Newal Road.

Commenting, Mr Storey said  ‘‘I am pleased that this work has been able to go ahead. Even in these uncertain times, it is crucial that we continue to invest in our roads infrastructure for the future.

This stretch of road, situated close to the Robinson Hospital is an important route into the town and for local residents. It is therefore welcome that both motorists and pedestrians will be able to benefit from this much-needed upgrade.

The resurfacing is due to complete by 3 February and I will work with the Department to ensure any travel disruption in the meantime is kept to a minimum.’’
