DUP Councillor John McAuley has welcomed the progress made on installing floodlighting at the MUGA in the village of Stranocum.
At Tuesday evenings Leisure and Development Committee, Cllr McAuley’s proposal passed unanimously, and will now move onto the next full council meeting in March.
Commenting Cllr McAuley expressed his delight to see much-needed investment in the village saying: “This investment will see the lack of floodlighting at Stranocum MUGA which currently restricts usage to daylight hours only resolved.
“Along with North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey, I recently met with representatives of Stranocum & District Development group to discuss issues within the village and this particular problem was high on their agenda.
“This investment will enhance the MUGA facilities, allowing it to be used more by the residents and in particular benefit the young people of the village.”
In conclusion, Cllr McAuley said: “We now look forward to the completion of this project and will continue to work with the residents to resolve their other concerns and issues.”
