The Bushmills Courthouse is a distinctive and historic landmark deeply rooted in the town’s heritage. With work currently underway to renovate and extend the building, transforming it into a Creative Hub, Enterprise Causeway are currently considering how best to promote and reflect the heritage of the Courthouse and the surrounding area.

Therefore, we are warmly inviting anyone with an interest in our project or local heritage to participate in one of our forthcoming workshops.

Facilitated by experienced heritage consultants Helen Perry and Robert Heslip, these sessions will provide a unique opportunity for residents, creatives, makers and businesses to share stories and memories of the places, people and events that matter to them.

This information will then help us to shape the interior of our building, including the creation of four unique sculptures, which will be located at The Courthouse.

The workshops will also provide an opportunity for community organisations and heritage groups to find out more about an exciting project, which we will be delivering over the coming months.

Eight groups will have the opportunity to develop their own programme, using creative arts to explore local heritage. Supported by a historian and artists, each group will explore an agreed heritage theme and develop their own unique art piece or resource to reflect their findings.

Encouraging people to attend one of the sessions, Jayne Taggart, CEO of Enterprise Causeway, said: “The local community is so important to ensure we accurately capture the history and heritage of the Courthouse. Whether that’s a local business, an established community group, a historical group, or simply anyone who calls it home, these meetings are open to everyone.

“Even if you aren’t sure whether you have anything to say, go along to hear from others. We want local perspectives and insights reflected in the interpretation of the building.”
