DUP MLA Maurice Bradley has welcomed an announcement from Education Minister, Peter Weir MLA that a local school is to benefit from a major capital works programme.

St Conor’s College, Kilrea has been named in the Minister’s Major Capital Works programme. St Conor’s College is an amalgamated college and was formerly St Mary’s College, Clady and St Paul’s College, Kilrea.

Bradley, a member of Stormont’s Education Committee, described the investment as ‘welcome news’.

“Many of our schools within East Londonderry require major investment, but this is a good starting point.

“The Minister today announced nine projects that would be taken through to design stage, representing an investment of £156 million.

“It is vital that our children have schools that are fit for purpose and provide the right environments for learning and I am hopeful that further projects will be brought forward in the East Londonderry area in the coming months.”
