The police and Army Technical Officers are currently at the scene of a suspected device, close to Antrim police station.
The area has been sealed off with a number of roads closed as a result.
Police have said;
“The Dublin Road, Antrim is closed at the junctions with Oriel Road, Castle Way & Lough Road, as police attend a report of a suspicious object in the area this evening (Monday 16th September).
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and there are no further details at this stage.”
Stiles Community Centre has been opened as an emergency support centre for those affected by evacuation.
