The Air Ambulance were tasked on Saturday afternoon to the local football game between Dervock FC and Portstewart at Paddy Park.
Dervock’s keeper sustained what was describe as a ‘serious fracture’ during the game against their opponents.
NIAS paramedics were quickly on scene as well as the Air Ambulance HEMS team, who accessed the player and transport him onwards for further emergency treatment.
A club representative took to social media, writing: “Wishing our player Wayne McCullough a speedy recovery after a terrible injury sustained in today’s game.
“A big thanks to Portstewart Town and anyone else that helped quickly along with the Air Ambulance service especially getting to our ground and helping in a short period of time..
It wasn’t too long before the well wishes for the popular keeper started flooding in, along with the usual football banter.
Coleraine & District League also sent their well wishes saying: “Everyone connected with the League management committee would join Dervock and Portstewart Town in also wishing Wayne a speedy recovery.
“Special Thanks to the Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance who were quickly on the scene.”
