The family of Sir Sean Connery have announced that the actor has sadly died at aged 90.
Best know for his role as the fictional British spy, James Bond, Connery starred in seven films from the spy franchise; Dr No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967), Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Never Say Never Again (1983).
The Scottish actor hasn’t been active for many years and following a long illness his son, Jason Connery confirmed his father passed peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas where he spent most of his time in recent years.
Making the announcement this afternoon, son Jason Connery said that his father: “had many of his family who could be in the Bahamas around him” when he died overnight.
“We are all working at understanding this huge event as it only happened so recently, even though my dad has been unwell for some time.
“A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor.”
