Rasharkin security alert ‘Reckless ‘

McAuley Multimedia 17th April 2019..The scene at Rasharkin Village where two properties were targarted with pipebombs. It is undrstood that one house had it s window broken when the bomb went through it and that the other had a pipe bomb left on the window ledge. ATO attended the scene at approx 2330 Hrs and dealt which each indicdent seperatly. It is belived that the familes had not been living there for much longer than one month. Yesterday evening just after 10pm, police were alerted to two devices found at two separate addresses in the village.

What we understand is one of the devices was thrown through a window while the other was left on a window ledge.
ATO arrived on the scene at approx 11.30pm and dealt with both viable devices separately. Both family are beleved to be relatively new to the houses, about a month.

Several residents were evacuated to the local parish centre while the incidents were dealt with.
North Antrim MLA Philip McGuigan who was in Rasharkin during the incident described it as;

“A reckless attack on the community.”
