The mother of murdered Journalist Lyra McKee has died.
This heartbreaking news comes just a few weeks ahead of the first aniversary of the journalists death, who was shot last April on the Creggan Estate in Londonderry.
The older sister of Lyra, Nichola McKee- Corner, announced her Mother’s death in Facebook today saying:
“It is with the greatest sadness that I share this. My mother, Joan Lawrie, passed away peacefully in hospital on 10th March.
“She is now at peace with her beloved daughter Lyra McKee.”
Joan is said to have never recovered following Lyra’s death and will now never see anyone convicted of her daughters killing despite a recent arrest.
